Fearless Hosting: Turning "What If No One Turns Up" Into a Winter of Resilience
As I sat planning my 2025 events, excitement bubbled alongside a familiar companion—doubt. With a calendar full of offerings, from EFT workshops to Virtual IVF training and MBCT courses, I couldn’t help but notice a small voice whispering, "What if no one turns up?"
I’ve achieved many things that I am proud of in my life—mountain climbing, scuba diving, careers in the fire and prison services—but this particular fear still occasionally sneaks in. As I reflected, I realised that this isn’t just my story; many event hosts feel the same. It’s not the absence of passion or skill but the human vulnerability of putting ourselves out there.
Learning and Not Showing Up
It’s so common to learn a skill, get excited about it, and then hesitate to step into the spotlight. Maybe it’s the fear of rejection, the fear of failure, or even the fear of success that holds us back. But the truth is, the world doesn’t just need your skills—it needs your presence.
Imagine if you let your fear stop you. How many people would miss out on the insights, healing, or guidance you could offer? We often think we need to perfect ourselves before we can share with others, but life isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up authentically, even when it feels uncomfortable.
When you learned your craft—whether it’s EFT, hypnotherapy, or another passion—you didn’t just gain knowledge. You became a conduit for transformation. The world needs that, and it needs you.
Group Tapping and Borrowing Benefits
One of the most powerful tools for overcoming fear is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). In a group setting, tapping isn’t just about individual breakthroughs; it’s about collective healing.
When a group of people taps together, something remarkable happens—borrowing benefits. This phenomenon means that even if you’re tapping on someone else’s fear or worry, your subconscious starts to release your own blocks. As one person expresses their doubts, others resonate with similar feelings, creating a ripple effect of healing.
For the fear of hosting, group tapping can be especially effective:
Shared Experience: You realise you’re not alone. The fear of "what if no one shows up" is universal, and hearing others voice it can be deeply validating.
Collective Energy: Tapping in a group amplifies the energy of release and transformation, making it easier to let go of fears that might feel overwhelming on your own.
Unexpected Insights: Borrowing benefits often brings unexpected clarity or shifts in areas you weren’t consciously addressing. You might enter a session focused on hosting fears and leave feeling more confident in your overall ability to share your skills.
Finding Courage in the Winter Stillness
Winter, for me, is the perfect metaphor for hosting events. It’s a time of quiet reflection, where the seeds we plant today will bloom in future seasons. Taking action, even small steps, is the first step toward breaking free from the fear of "what if no one turns up."
Your Presence Matters
Through this process, I’ve come to see that the fear of hosting isn’t about the event itself. It’s about how we measure success. For me, success isn’t in numbers but in showing up authentically and sharing what I love with the world.
Group tapping is a reminder that none of us are alone in our fears, and together, we can move through them to a place of courage and empowerment.
As 2025 approaches, I’m leaning into a new mantra: “Fearless hosting, fearless living.” And I invite you to do the same. Your voice, your perspective, and your skills are unique gifts. By showing up, you create ripples that can transform lives in ways you may never even know.
Let’s make 2025 the year we step forward boldly, together. 🌕
